The Mission College Borrowing Owl website is a directive studies project that Phil and I had taken up the Spring semester of year 2001. The instructor for this distance learning course was Dr. Jean Replicon.

Phil and I are members of the Environmental Awareness Association, a student club at Mission College. Dr. Replicon is also the club advisor. One of the major issues for the club are the Burrowing Owls that reside on the Mission College campus. As the club went more into this issue, we realized that not a lot of people, including Mission College students and faculty, had even seen an owl, let alone know that they're habitat was in danger of being obliterated. This website's purpose is to educate everyone about these special creatures and what they can do to help to keep them.

Special Thanks to:
Dr. Jean Replicon, Department of Biological Sciences at Mission College.
Jean you have been the inspiration for us to do this project. You are an endless source of ideas and have pulled us up during times of despair when our projects have been canceled or delayed on campus. Your commitment to this project has been endless and we admire your stamina and knowledge.

Debra Chromczak, Burrowing Owl Specialist / Environmental Consultant.
Debra you have been our outdoors classroom teacher. You have enriched our minds with the beauty and wisdom that is associated with owls. Thank you for sharing your statistics, knowledge and supervisory skills in constructing burrowing owl artificial burrows.

Dr. Lynne Trulio, Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at San
Jose State University.

Lynne you have been the pioneer in saving the first burrowing owls at Mission College, we feel honored to be part of the team now. Your guidance and perseverance helps us all to continue doing what is right for the environment and the burrowing owls.

To all the students, faculty and staff at Mission College who have been a part of our endeavor to save the last few remaining burrowing owls on campus we thank you all sincerely. We could not even begin to mention all your names as there are too many. You know who you are, and we know who you are, we have appreciated your letters of support and words of encouragement.

Lets all hope that one day the burrowing owls of Mission College will share our campus without fear of vandalism or violations to their lives or habitat. They are not guilty of any crime which necessitates hatred or abuse, they are a species on the verge of extirpation. Their struggle for survival has been endless, we have the opportunity and the knowledge to do what is right, and that is SAVE THEM.
